Zine: They Have Names and Addresses in Central Texas

Anonymous Transmission

This zine, “They Have Names and Addresses in Central Texas,” lays out a brief summary of the stakes of the fight to Stop Cop City in Atlanta, and discusses local actors involved in the construction of the project (such as Atlas Technical Consultants). This anonymously published zine has recently been in circulation at solidarity events and in activist circles in Austin, and we are republishing it now for broader accessibility and circulation. There are two copies imposed for printing, one in black & white and the other in color. There is also a digital reading imposed PDF.

All Lives Matter: White Reaction in Austin, TX (2015)

Austin Autonomedia: Keep Austin Criminal

This website and the parent organization it was born from, the Autonomous Student Network, were products of and participants in the wave of anti-fascist/anti-racist struggles that grew in the aftermath of the 2016 election. Some of us got an early start and caught glimpses of the preceding cycle of struggle in Austin–defined largely by the post-Ferguson moment with anti-police & Black Lives Matter movements, but we have little direct context for the depth and complexity of that moment. There is also a disconnect in historical memory between those more recently activated who see white nationalism as a product of the post-Trump moment and those who know the longer history of anti-racist struggles in Austin.

Stop the Sweeps Zine

Originally published by Stop the Sweeps Austin

For public access and distribution, we are republishing a zine produced by Stop the Sweeps Austin–a local network combating the sweeps and displacement of homeless people in Austin. This zine was produced for distribution at the 2020 Austin Anarchist Bookfair, and features a timeline of events presented through facebook highlights, as well as a statement of principles and vision for the organization. We hope it inspires those locally seeking to join or conspire with these folks, or those near and far looking for inspiring examples of ways to organize themselves. Click the hyperlinks below to access digital and print-imposed PDFs of the zine.

Histories of Displacement & Colonization: “Capitol” & “Finding Loston”

Austin Autonomedia: Keeping Austin Criminal

Austin is experiencing waves of displacement, organized under the banners of gentrification, anti-homeless sweeps, the suburbanization of poverty, and policing (community or otherwise). Many in this city find themselves fighting where they stand against this onslaught, attempting to construct some form of counterweight or defense against the violence of Austin’s growth.

Be Gay, Do Crime: New Mixes From Jevx

Curated by Bidrohi

It’s Pride month, AKA Be Gay & Do Crime month, and summer is just kicking off for those of us who get vacation time! To celebrate, here are two mixes from JEVX, an Austin-based Puerto Rican artist, DJ, and radical. Their Anarko Mix, described as “music for when you have finally fucking had it,” is an intense and energizing Gabber mix that’ll have you primed to throw a brick at the nearest cop. Their Pride Mix, on the other hand, summons the subversive forces of queerness with its injunction to “go drink piss in front of children.” Paired together, these mixes are bound to get you in the headspace to celebrate an insurrectionary, riotous Pride month.

Red, White, & Blue

A submission from Mapache. September 28th marked two weeks since they were deported.

windows just big enough to see the flags they used to lock me up
but we all saw this coming
it was just a matter of time
tossed in the back of a van and taunted with threats of being sent back to a home i dont remember
kidnapped
taken by cowboys who would die for those 3 colors which persecute me
the same 3 colors which destroy the countries my cellmates seek refuge from
they guard the entrance to this prison
and haunt my only view of the outside world
red, white, and blue
judge, jury, and executioner

Write a letter to Mapache at the upcoming letter writing night for Mapache & Red Fawn, being hosted by the Austin Anarchist Black Cross and the Autonomous Student Network.

Hell’s Walls–A Poem From Mapache

Submission from Mapache, a community activist incarcerated by ICE.

It has been over one month since ICE kidnapped community activist Sergio Salazar aka Mapache. On September 14th, he was deported–a decision chosen by Mapache in order to get out of the cage faster, and a result of the corner he had been backed into by the feds. Through his friends in the (now de-camped) Abolish ICE SATX camp, we have received and are republishing this poem he wrote while being held in the Webb Detention Center. We look forward to publishing more works from Mapache soon. We also encourage you to attend the upcoming letter writing night for Mapache & Red Fawn, being hosted by the Austin Anarchist Black Cross and the Autonomous Student Network.

Zine–The End Of Your Life: On Anarchy and Why You Should Do It

Submission from the Autonomous Student Network–College Station. Originally published on the College Station Autonomous Collective wordpress.

Below, we’ve published a zine submission from a crew using the name ASN College Station. They are not formally affiliated with ASN Austin, but we are happy to see others take up the name to use for their publications, crews, and actions. We expect to see a lot more cool stuff coming out of College Station soon. If you’re in College Station, you should also check out the newly emerging College Station Autonomous Collective. Take a peek at their wordpress and their twitter, and keep an eye out for a meeting near you! Until then, enjoy this piece!
